On Saturday I met up with Katie and Andy at Smyrna Dunes Park in New Smyrna Beach to photograph an Engagement Photography Session with them. I will be photographing their wedding in a couple months. The session started under the threat of thunderstorms, though we were lucky enough to have the storms pass just before we got started. The passing storms were actually a blessing in the sense that they made a really dramatic cloud filled sky and left us with soft diffused light which is just about perfect for photographing people outside. Smyrna Dunes Park is a great location where I often find myself photographing couples and families along the boardwalk and the rock jetty that marks the South side of the Ponce DeLeon Inlet. On this day though, the wind was going to make shooting on the ocean side of the dunes nearly impossible (Portraits don't look good when people's hair is blowing all over). So we stayed on the wind protected river side of the park, and a few of the trails that pass through the sand dunes and made some great portraits.
