A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to travel up the coast to photograph some family portraits in St. Simons Island, GA. The weather was typical for the southeastern US, with scattered thunderstorms and rain peering the map all the way along the 2 and a half hour drive. When I got to St. Simons I checked the radar one last time and saw more storms moving in, but it looked like we might have a small window of an opportunity to make the shoot happen. I met up with the family at their vacation home, and we made a game plan to head down to the beach close to their house, and shoot until the weather made us stop.
I met up with the Sczesny family at the New Smyrna Beach Sugarmill Ruins park for a family portrait session to make some updated family portraits with a different feel then the family portraits on the beach I shot for them last year. I have been wanting to take a family to the Sugarmill Ruins for some time, and this time it worked out great. The remains of the old Spanish style sugar mill date back to before the Seminole Indian wars, where much of the mill was destroyed and abandoned, but it has since been turned into a county park, and is open to the public.
I met the Burch family at the family's beachside condo where they were vacationing on the sands of New Smyrna Beach, FL. I first met the Burchs a couple years ago when I first photographed them, but a few years had passed, and a few new little ones had been added to the family. The family is always a fun group, and was evidenced with the jumping group photos.
Family Portrait photography at Old Fort Park in New Smyrna Beach, FL. I met up with the Hoffman family in the late afternoon to make some great family portraits using the run-ins commonly called 'The Old Fort' as the background. While the real history and origin of th sold stone foundations has been lost to history, it still makes for a neat background location for family portrait photography on location in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
Last week I kicked off the Senior Portrait Season for the class for 2014 with Mariah who will be one of the Senior Class Reps. showcasing Peter Arnold Photography and my Senior Portrait photography line. I first met Mariah when I was photographing a wedding where her mother was the Maid-of-honor. I later photographed a family portrait session with her family. It was an easy decision to select Mariah as one of the Class Reps. for the Class of 2014 and we made a bunch of great images during her Senior Portrait session at Smyrna Dunes Park in New Smyrna Beach. Here are some of my favorite images and some that showcase some of the various artistic edits that are available for Senior Portraits.Read More
Here is a photo from a wedding at the Hidden Lakes Golf Course in New Smyrna Beach, FL. The bride and groom had planned a quick ceremony so that they could then head out on the course with me for special bride and groom portraits. For this photo, I had Brandon and Stephanie walk down one of the cart paths, and then pose there, making them framed up by the trees on the sides of the card path.

After Brandon and Stephanie's ceremony on the green near the clubhouse, we raced to the back side of the golf course for some bride and groom portraits. On our way back to the to the clubhouse for the reception I noticed how I could set up this shot. I had the Bride and Groom pose on one side of the water hazard while I went back to the other side to capture them with their reflection.

I have been wanting to do this for a little while now, but have been waiting to get a good selection of images together from several weddings that I photographed. Well, I have been able to do that now, so here is my new promo video for Emanon Photography. Specifically this if for my Wedding Photography business, I have already made another for my Portraits, but I think I will be redoing that one soon too.

UPDATED: The Photograher's Favorites
These are some of my favorite images that I created from the family portrait photo session I had on Wednesday at Riverside Manatee Park in NEw Smyrna Beach, FL. I just finished all the editing and even used some new effects on some of these images because the subjects just fit.
I really like the effect I used below. It just draws you in to the eyes which are the sharpest focus point of the image.
Anyways, this was shot at Riverside Manatee Park in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Stephanie scheduled me to capture her family photographs as soon as she saw some other images I had captured of one of her co-worker's families.
This was a fun shoot, even though I was racing the setting sun. I have some great images, so stay tuned for an update coming soon with more images and a slide-show.
