Earlier this month I had the opportunity to photograph the Smith family who were just finishing up their vacation in New Smyrna Beach, and were about to head home to Oklahoma. They decided on the last day of their vacation that they wanted a family portrait ph the beach, and lucky for them, I was available. I met them at Smyrna Dunes Park at the northern most tip of New Smyrna Beach, FL just before sunset, while a large thunderstorm was building just to the West. I worked quickly to beat the storm, and I still made some great images. With this shoot I pulled out some lighting tricks to enhance the sunset, which was a little muted by the thunderstorm. Here are a couple of my favorite images.
Last week I photographed several family portraits along a couple different parts of New Smyrna Beach. This location at Smyrna Dunes Park all the way at the North end of New Smyrna Beach, FL is adjacent to the Ponce DeLeon inlet and in several photos you can see the Ponce Inlet lighthouse in the background. This is my favorite beach to photograph on because I have so many options for photographic backgrounds from the Ocean, Dunes, the rock jetty, and the light house. Sunsets on the water of the inlet also work great. Here are a few of my favorite images from the photo session.

Last week I had several opportunities to photograph several fun families along the beach. This family portrait session was at Bethune Beach Park in New Smyrna Beach, FL. I met the family a little bit before sunset and we walked up the beach a little bit to a clear section of the beach. The session even included the capture of a ghost crab, along with the usual smiles, and camera clicks. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the photo session.

UPDATED April 16: Video Added!
On Saturday I had the opportunity to photograph Brittany and CJ. They have been married for a few year and are planning a wedding vow renewal ceremony this summer for their 5th anniversary. For their photo session I planed to photograph in two locations. The first part of our session was along Flagler Ave. in the heart of New Smyrna Beach. As we walked down the street I looked for locations with nice light and I gad a change to talk to Brittany and CJ and get to know them a little bit. For the second part of the photo shoot we traveled up to Smyrna Dunes Park. Located at the Northern most part of the New Smyrna Beach peninsula on the South side of The Ponce DeLeon Inlet. This park has a long boardwalk walkway which leads to a section of traffic free beach. We got there just before sunset and I made the light really work for me. Here are a few of the shots from Saturday.
On Saturday I met with a really fun couple and their dog to shoot their engagement photos. The photo session was scheduled to make the most of the time just before sunset, the "golden hour"as photographers call it. The photo session was shot at Smyrna Dunes park on the North end of New Smyrna Beach, FL. The photo session started with a walk along the boardwalk where I had a chance to get to know Ashlynd and Morgan as we walked and talked and I shot photos. We made our way to the South jetty of Ponce Inlet on the beach which is where their wedding ceremony will be. These shots are just a sample of the whole shoot but they are some of my favorite ones.
Their dog Timber was a great addition to the photo session. He was really well trained and seemed to pose on command when needed. He will also be the Ring-barer for the upcoming wedding.
We had some great light right before sunset. We even ran into another photographer along the boardwalk who seemed to be shooting some senior portraits.
This is one of the shots where Timber seemed to pose right on command.
On of the shots I really like was this one which I just got just after I put my 50mm lens on my camera. I really like the way this lens can really blur the background out completely so you focus only on the subject of the photo.
This photo session was a lot of fun. Congratulations to Ashlynd and Morgan!
Thanks for letting me capture your love for each other.
